I am Ruslan Hrushchak, a photographer born in Ukraine, living and working in Leipzig, Germany.
My work moves between portraiture, memory, and the quiet poetics of everyday life. Through my images, I explore human presence within changing natural and emotional landscapes — tracing connections between people, places, and time.
I studied at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin, where I also participated in the master class led by Ludwig Rauch. Before that, I studied journalism in Lviv and computer science in Leipzig — a combination that continues to inform the balance of precision and sensibility in my visual language.
My debut book The Road Beyond (Kominek, 2022), created in collaboration with Ukrainian filmmaker and poet Iryna Tsilyk, documents a decade of life in Ukraine (2010–2020) through intimate photographs and poetry.
My second monograph, Patchwork Garden (Origini Edizioni, 2025), edited by Ilias Georgiadis and designed by Matilde Vittoria Laricchia, reflects on family, nature, and belonging — a lyrical meditation on growth, fragility, and renewal across generations.
My work has been exhibited in Germany and abroad, and continues to evolve between the documentary and the poetic, the personal and the universal.
